Unfortunately staff hauling pinestraw to the first hole accidentally caught the stop sign with the landscape truck.  Accidents happen, staff member got a lecture on being more careful cart paths.  New sign is ordered and in the mean time this sign will be straightened up to look more presentable.

Front Entrance Signs

Adjusting the lights at the 2 front enterance signs to better improve the look and reduce the shadows.  Left side is how the lights were set and the right is following adjustment.  It is a softer light and reduces (doesn’t eliminate) the shadow between the lights.

Another Cold Front

Mother Nature is bring us another cold front today.  Chances are high for a good amount of rainfall which is desperately needed in our area.  Putting out a fungicide application for parasitic nematodes prior to the rainfall.  We will use the rainfall to naturally move the product through the soil to the root zone.

Directional Sign

A new directional sign to help assist golfers going from 11 to 12 was installed today.

New Equipment

The new Toro equipment has started to arrive.  Once all the equipment has been delivered we will be able to start mowing roughs with the new mowers to help reduce the puffy look in areas.  The puffy look may not be eliminated completely this time of year but it will significantly change the way we mow roughs throughout the summer months.

Front Enterance

Looks like the finishing touches are being put on the signs at the front entrance.  New copping, which will cover up the lights.  Really finishes the signs off nicely.

Root Pruning

Two weeks ago we took the root pruner out to start this process, unfortunately a bolt sheared off.  Upon further inspection we found a couple bolts that were bent.  To be on the safe side all the bolts that hold the blades on were replaced.  We took the unit out to start this procedure today.  This will be an ongoing process over the next month or so.  Any areas where the turf may get damaged will be repaired.

Bunker Work

Staff are in the process of compacting the sand in all the bunkers.  This is a tedious task and will take 4-5 days to complete.  This work must be done in and around play so please be patient with us.  The fewer times staff have to stop the quicker we will get it accomplished.

Unwanted Grass!!!

Over the past few weeks we have seen some areas where the common bermudagrass has reared it ugly head.  It is important that we stay on top of these areas to prevent this from becoming an issue in future years.  As the areas are identified they will be killed with herbicide, multiple application, over the next couple of weeks.  Once death has occurred the dead material will be removed and new celebration bermudagrass sod will be installed.  Until they have fully recovered the areas will be marked as Ground Under Repair.
