This big boy was an inch under the grass on the 16th fairway. Took 5 guys to get it on a trailer.

Bridges are 20 years old and are scheduled to be replaced in the next 2 years. As the shorter screws fail due to rotting wood, staff are using longer screws (6 inches) to find better wood to keep the deck boards down. This is working at the moment but we still have a 1 to 2 years to get through.

Typical with this time of year and all the rainfall we have been getting there are areas around the course where some additional drainage will need to be installed. One of the those areas is in the front of the 7th green. The lowest areas around the greens is where all the water tends to accumulate and this causes these areas along the perimeters of greens to stay on the wet side. To help combat this staff installed a new smile drain in the front of the 7th green. This is help get the water that tends to sit there out. Next Tuesday we will be addressing the areas around the chipping green, especially between the chipping and putting greens.

It’s summer time and that means sand, sand & sand, everywhere! Mechanics are not thrilled with this time of year because us superintendents love throwing sand on the golf course. Mowers do not like sand which mean constant grinding of the cutting units.
